Peoplequake by Fred Pearce.
The issue of population size is hugely controversial and never far from the political agenda. Thomas Malthus kicked off the debate with his theory that we all face doom and that human population would soon outstrip their own ability to produce food, and there would be a catastrophe by the mid-nineteenth century.
Fred Pearce takes a more positive stance to the population debate and explores how we got here and where we are going. Interestingly, he believes that in the future planet earth will be able to sustain human life. Happy reading, happy days!
