Year 8 visit to Seven Sisters Country Park...

During Thursday afternoon (19th June), some year 8 students visited local Cuckmere Haven, a popular tourist destination that is famous for its meandering river and oxbow lakes. The students engaged in a long walk and learned about geographical issues along the way, such as the impacts of tourism in the Seven Sisters Country Park, river processes and proposed flood management schemes. The students considered the different attitudes towards the proposed plan to restore the area to a naturally functioning estuary which will be self sustaining, reducing the need for engineered solutions and increasing the flood storage capacity of the flood plain. Thanks to the year 8 students for participating so well. It is good to make use of our local area and carry out practical work on location :)
