GCSE Geographers...

Year 9 and 10 have been studying the causes, impacts and short term/medium term responses to the Cumbria floods in November 2009, as part of their case study for a flood in an MEDC.

Remember to check out Countryfile on BBC1 from 6-7pm this Sunday. Part of the programme will be focusing on the responses towards farmers. It is four months on from this event, how are farmers dealing with the impacts?

Floods in Cumbria...

This week has seen record levels of rainfall flooding parts of Cumbria and border regions. More than 1,300 homes were flooded and many left without power or mains water supplies. Cockermouth was one of the worst affected places, where water levels reached 2.5m (8ft 2in), more than 200 people were rescued by emergency services - 50 by RAF helicopters.
