Eco House on a plate...

9B have recently been learning about the different approaches to building sustainable cities. They started off by analysing recent government proposals to build 10 Eco Towns. They were then given the task to create a sustainable place on a paper plate. They each brought a few materials in and spent a lesson creating their Eco Houses. They then had to produce an extended piece of writing justifying their design decisions...

The internal representation each of us have of an area is usually very different, and based on our experiences. Therefore, if i asked you to draw a map of Seaford from memory, the maps you would draw are unlikely to be the same as that of the next person.

The urban geographies of Brighton...

I decided to take some photos in Brighton, as part of 'rehab' really and to help with 'Theme 2: Settlement and Population' scheme and also the fieldwork focus for Controlled Assessment (OCR B Spec).

In this work there has been a shift from looking at 'patterns' of land use that has developed in Brighton over time, moving away from the more traditional urban land use models, to demonstrating the 'processes' involved with the continuous development of Brighton as an extremely dynamic and complex urban landscape.
