China are doing very well in the Olympics at the moment but how many medals should we expect a country to win, based on its size and wealth? An interesting article from the BBC news website explains more.

Rio de Janeiro to stage 2016 Olympic Games

Brazil will become the first South American country to host the Olympics, after the city of Rio de Janeiro was chosen to stage the 2016 Games.

Rio won a majority of the 95 votes at the meeting in Copenhagen.

Gold and Bronze for Britain!

Not strictly Geography, but worth blogging about! Britain's Rebecca Adlington took a historic gold in the women's 400m freestyle, while her team-mate Jo Jackson claimed the bronze medal. This is the kind of thing we need to inspire young athletes to take part in London 2012!!! Well done girls!
